Terms & Conditions

In consenting to participate in sessions at Leading The Way Equine Assisted Learning, you agree to the terms and conditions as follows:

  1. Participation in activities involving horses involve risk of injury, as activities with horses are deemed a ‘significant high risk’ activity by our community and legal system.
  2. By attending and/or participating in this training or session you knowingly and freely assume all such risks, both known and unknown and you voluntarily enter at your own risk.
  3. Horses have different temperaments and natures. All horses are potentially unpredictable, especially if frightened, hurt or mistreated. The horses at Leading The Way Equine Assisted Learning do not purposefully kick or bite people, and, they will be chosen to ‘match’ the experience and feelings of new clients. Horses do explore their ‘environments’ with their bodies, so clients will be introduced to the practice of boundary-setting, to choose how they wish to engage with the horses.
  4. The practitioner will provide a ‘safety guideline’ which supports clients in being safe, aware and making safe choices in all sessions with horses.
  5. The practitioner will take all care possible and follow clear safety guidelines for the benefit of clients and horses.
  6. You agree not to deliberately frighten, hurt or mistreat the horses and to follow safety guidelines offered by the practitioner.
  7. Leading The Way Equine Assisted Learning makes no warranty of any kind, expressed or implied, as to the nature, habits, and disposition of any horse involved in sessions or activities.
  8. All directions by the practitioner must be observed.
  9. You are responsible for wearing suitable clothing, and appropriate footwear, fully covered hard shoes or boots with flat heels.
  10. Sessions are predominantly ‘on the ground’ sessions. If mounted or riding sessions are offered, client/s must wear a helmet that will be provided.
  11. You agree to follow the directions of the practitioner or official and that any misconduct or refusal by you to follow any direction of the practitioner or official can result in your exclusion from participation in the activities and your immediate removal from training and participation in future sessions will be reviewed or cancelled. You understand that any such non-compliance may result in injury as a result of your failure to comply.
  12. In the event of an accident of any kind, you must report this to the practitioner immediately.
  13. In the event of serious accident or injury where an ambulance or medical treatment is required, you are responsible for any costs that may be incurred.
  14. Upon entering the activities area you acknowledge the practitioner or officials and/or others do not accept any liability for any accident, damage, injury or illness to you, any spectators, participants, or any other person or property whatsoever.
  15. Knowing the potential inherent risks, you assume sole responsibility for any injury, death or property damage you may suffer or inflict as a result of your attendance and/or participation in this training.

Cancellations/Rescheduling
Rescheduling or cancelling of appointments should be done at least 24 hours before the planned date, to avoid a full fee charge.

Confidentiality
Equine Assisted Learning sessions are confidential, and your personal information will not be shared. Exceptions to this are listed below:

  • When disclosure is required to prevent clear and imminent danger to yourself & others
  • When legal requirements demand that confidential material be revealed.
  • Summary will be provided to interested parties upon completion of the program. Report will contain a summary of participation, growth, and development.

Equine Assisted Learning (EAL)
The Client (you) is aware that EAL is in no way to be construed as psychological counselling or any type of therapy. EAL is a specific social-emotional skills building, experiential learning modality. The Client must enter sessions with the full understanding that they are responsible for their own personal learning and growth. The Client is aware that outcomes are dependent on their level of commitment and participation throughout the process.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
We are located at 5 Maggins Lane, Wesburn and operate from our family home/property. When you get to the location, drive through the main gate to the parking area at the bottom of the horse arena. Your practitioner will greet you upon arrival.

First Session
It is preferable if you can arrive 10 minutes early for your first session to allow time to complete paperwork. If the client is under 18 years of age, a parent/ guardian will need to sign the forms before we can begin.

Facilities
Unfortunately we do not have toilet facilities available at this time, there is however amenities available across the road at Wesburn Park. Water and hand sanitiser will be provided.

Payment
Payment can be arranged between Leading The Way Equine Assisted Learning and the referring organisation (if referred and funded by a third party) prior to commencement. If you are paying for the sessions privately, you will receive an Invoice following the session and be able to make payment via electronic funds transfer. Payment for each session is required before being seen for your next session. Paying by cash on the day is an option however electronic funds transfer is preferable.

Weather
Sessions take place outside with the horses, please dress appropriately for all weather conditions. Sessions may be rescheduled in the event of extreme weather.

What to Wear
Closed toe shoes must be worn. Dress appropriately for the weather including hat, sunscreen, and clothes offering appropriate sun protection for sunny/ hot weather. In the case of cold weather please ensure you have a warm jumper, jacket, and/ or water proof jacket if available. There is no need to purchase riding boots or any horse equipment. We do not guarantee your white shoes will stay white, so please wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Google Analytics

Our website makes use of Google Analytics to collect traffic data and enhance the user experience. The collected data is stored on Google servers, not on our site. Google consolidates demographic data, making it impossible for us to identify individual users. If you wish to decline data collection, you can choose to reject cookies when prompted on our site or clear your cookies altogether.
